Cinema Makeup School was founded in 1993 in Los Angeles, and has created a professional and hands-on learning environment for aspiring makeup artists looking to specialize in SFX and beauty.
We build a strong foundation, both in artistry and business, for our students in every course. Our students work to be adaptable and prepared for any challenge, as they build the essential skill sets needed to become a successful makeup artist.
CMS makes an effort to keep smaller class sizes, in order to focus on a more personalized and practical approach to teaching the fundamentals of makeup.
Studying at Cinema Makeup School enables students to be completely encompassed in the film industry, while pursuing their dreams of professional makeup effects in the heart of Los Angeles.
Our facility has over 10,000 sq. ft. of space, including classrooms, working labs, administrative offices, our reception area, computer lab, 3D printing lab, and a full photography studio. Our fully air-conditioned classrooms and laboratories are spacious — with completely custom lit and mirrored environments, specifically designed to provide students with the best working conditions.
We have our own professional makeup store located on campus, which sells materials to students, graduates, and the public. Cinema Makeup School graduates receive discounts on all CMS products, along with all other professional brands, at the store. This is a great resource for students and alumni, allowing them to purchase materials without ever having to leave the CMS facility, as well as get expert advice from the shop staff on all products and materials.
Through our affiliation with CMS Digital Studios Inc., we are able to use an on-site, full-scale production space, where students are able to attend guest speaker lectures, workshops, movie screenings, graduation ceremonies, and special events. The Wiltern building has on-site security that monitors all persons entering and exiting the building. All of our facilities are wheelchair accessible. Parking (including handicapped-accessible) is available across from the main building; parking garages, metered and street parking can all be found near the school.
